There are actually quite a few mouse deterrent methods on the market. There are types that you plug in or ones that are all natural. It is up to you to pick out the one that you would like to use.
There is an electronic mouse deterrent which needs to be plugged into your wall outlet. It runs on 120 volts so almost any electric outlet will work. These do the job a couple of different ways. One of the ways is to emit an ultrasonic high frequency which annoys the mouse so much that they leave. It produces a frequency between 30 to 60 kHz and never repeats the same one. The mouse can't get used to the frequency and simply becomes distressed. Another way uses the electrical wiring in the walls. This way the electromagnetic field created by the electrical wiring is vibrated by the device. These vibrations vary and change constantly so the mouse is unable to get used to them, but get aggravated and go away. Typically one device of either kind can take care of one floor of a house.
